This week has been pretty boring, but that is actually a good thing. I’ve had some time to relax and of course watch hockey!

On The Blog:

  • I had planned on doing a post last Friday, but time got away from me.

Love & Life:

  • Thursday, we had chicken fajitas and watched the Stars’ season opener.
  • Friday, I went to Katy Trail Outpost with some friends. I highly recommend their Texas Mule.
  • Sunday, Michael joined me at my mom’s for lunch which was nice.

  • I pretty much just worked a lo this week.

Recently Spotted:

  • I have all the Christmas gifts for the boys done. Now I am just about on schedule on the first girl project. So excited!

Now Streaming:

  • Podcast: I need some new ideas. I go through my podcasts so quickly.
  • Music: NeedToBreathe is one of my favorite’s right now.
  • TV: SO I just found out this week that I won’t be able to watch someof my favorite shows on Hulu. I’m pretty sad about that.

  • I’m really enjoying the Chuck Colson book.

  • The NHL season started on Wednesday and Auston Matthews who was the number on draft pick scored 4 goals in his NHL debut. That is pretty good.
  • Canadiens opened their season in Buffalo on Thursday and beat the Sabres 4-1 in regulation.
  • The Stars opened their season on Thursday as well. They played the Anaheim Ducks at home in Dallas and won 4-2 in regulation.
  • Saturday, the Canadiens played in Ottawa and loss to the Senators 4-3 in a shoot-out.
  • The Stars also lost on the road on Saturday. In a high scoring 6-5 game, the Colorado Avalanche was able to come out on top.

Looking Forward To:

  • A wine night on Thursday with my friends.
  • UTA Terry Scholar and Alumni costume picnic in the afternoon on Saturday.
  • A friend’s birthday party on Saturday evening.

H54F: Shopping and Animals

It has been a really long week this week. Nothing huge really happened, but it has been long. I’m excited for a fun weekend though. I get to hang with my older sister tomorrow before we head out to celebrate my dad’s birthday with dinner and a movie. I’m also excited for the Mothers’ Day picnic we have planned for my mom.

Here is my High Five for Friday recap of the week.

Shorts: Gap through Thred Up (similar)/ Top: Target through ThredUp (similar
  1. I got my order from ThredUp that I mentioned in this post. I absolutely love the red shorts I got! I have been wanting a pair of colored shorts for a while. I can’t wait to wear them this weekend! I thought the teal shirt was a fun color as well. I got to wear to work today with my jeans. Love Jean Fridays at the office.

  2. This month I decided to stay away from buying more clothes. Since I am working on losing weight and I have my spring/summer essentials, I decided to spend my budget on accessories. I got this adorable sun hat for summer days and a cute saddle bag for casual weekends. I also got these adorable TOMS flip flops in my latest Trunk Club. They were a bit pricey, but they do have some arch support which my feet need.

    I think he’s adorable!
  3. Wednesday night was Work-Out Wednesday. Michael and I started this a while back and then stopped for a while when we got really busy. We started again this week. My legs still hurt from the lunges, but after the gym Michael made dinner. We had some yummy Pork Tenderloin and mixed veggies.
  4. Michael left for DreamHack in Austin yesterday, so that means I am watching the Chewie monster for the weekend. Mouse was not too happy about seeing his “friend”. He took to hiding behind my bike to get away from the dog. Eventually, he came around. Although the fight for my attention lasted all night and I got very little sleep.
  5. Today is my dad’s birthday! We are celebrating tomorrow, but I wanted to give him a quick shout-out! Like I said on Instagram, he fostered my love for the important things in life: Jesus, hockey and Star Trek. Quick hockey note: the Stars won in overtime last night!!

As always I am linking up with Tif, Katie & Della as well as Meet at the Barre!

Do you have any big plans for Mothers’ Day weekend?

High Five For Friday: Mid-April Rewind

I decided to do my Mid- April Rewind High Five for Friday Style! It’s been a busy month for me, but mostly from work and not so much personal stuff.

Love getting all dressed up and this Betsey Johnson dress (exact)
  1. On April 2nd, the UT Dallas Terry Scholars celebrated being on the UT Dallas campus for 10 years. So much has changed since I started as a Terry Scholar seven years ago. It was a great excuse to buy a new dress and get to see Michael all dressed up. It was a really fun evening.
  1. On April 7 & 8, I got to be on an interview panel for the next generation of Terry Scholars at UTD. It is a process that I love to take part in, but it is a long two days. We interview 30 high school seniors over the span of 2 days. It gets stressful sometimes, but at the end I am always humbled by the fact that seven years ago, 6 people chose me to get the very same scholarship. The stress-free part of the interviews: the Foundation puts us up in a nice Dallas hotel for a couple nights.
  1. Last Saturday, Michael and I spent the day getting ready for our camp out this weekend. I am so excited. I have never been camping! We aren’t going very far, but it should still be fun. We bought a massive eight person tent for the two of us. It has room divider and a front porch area. Please let me know if you have any camping tips!

  1. Sunday was another busy day! We celebrated my NeNe and Granddaddy’s 51st wedding anniversary at El Chico after church. These two are so great together and they chose to be my grandparents. They are actually my step-mom’s parents, but since they live so close and my other grandparents don’t, they have had the most active role in my life. We also went out and took family pictures in the afternoon. I will be putting some of those up when we get them.
This was not taken on our 2 year anniversary, but it’s one of my faves.
  1. Yesterday was Michael’s and my 2 year dating anniversary! I can’t believe it has already been that long. We have known each other for 5.5 years, but only have been dating for 2. It has been a crazy two years and I know I have grown a lot in that time. We spent the evening shopping and preparing food for the camping trip (we leave tonight) and of course watching the Dallas Stars win their first game of the 2016 NHL Playoffs. I was keeping an eye on the other games as well. Hopefully, my bracket stays in tack for a while.

Anyway, that is my April so far.

Things I’m looking forward to before the end of the month:

Camping this weekend

Getting the family pictures back

A less busy end of the month

I decided to link-up with High-Five for Friday! Check out Katie, Tif & Della, the lovely ladies that put together this link-up!
